MIDDLESEX COLLEGE BASEBALL SWEEPS NATIONALLY RANKED BROOKDALE CC IN KEY REGION 19 MATCHUP

Stanley Bobadilla had 5 hits and 4 RBIs across two games to back the fine pitching of multiple Colts as Middlesex College Baseball scored a huge road sweep of Brookdale College, the current #10 ranked team in the country.

Middlesex won Game 1, 15-13 then took the nightcap 6-3 to move to 15-6 on the season.

Game 1 was a wild affair that saw Brookdale build a 9-6 lead after just 4 innings. However, the Colts put up 9 runs in the fifth inning to gain a lead they would not relinquish.

Middlesex carried a 15-10 lead into the sixth and the ball to Elvys Quezada who did a fantastic job working with the lead he had to nail down the 15-13 win.

The Colts had many offensive stars in Game 1, including Bobadilla who had 2 hits, 3 RBIs, a run and a stolen base.

Alfredo Gonzalez had 3 hits, a double, 2 RBIs and a run scored and John Oranchak had a triple, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Jamie Tamayo filled up the box score as well, notching 2 hits with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a double.

Jayden Mercado picked up the win in relief, throwing 2 effective innings while the Colts mounted their comeback.

In Game 2, Middlesex didn't have the offensive output they did in the first game, but showed that they could beat the Jersey Blues in a low scoring game as well.

Brookdale held a narrow 3-2 lead going into the sixth, but sophomore Chris Fogarile came up with the biggest hit of the day, a two-out single that drove home the go-ahead run that put the Colts up 4-3 after six.

Middlesex added 2 insurance runs in the top of the seventh to give Bobby Bressler some breathing room as he worked 2 scoreless innings to pick up the crucial save. Nick Anderson worked the first 5 innings, turning in a fantastic performance limiting Brookdale to just 3 runs over 5 innings. Anderson is now 3-0 on the season.

Bobadilla had 3 hits, a double, a run and an RBI for Middlesex. Ryan Acquisto added 2 hits and a run and Gonzalez also delivered a run with a hit for the Colts.

Middlesex returns to action Tuesday when they host Union College. First pitch in Edison is scheduled for 3:30PM.
