JUSTIN ZAPATA EARNS ALL REGION 19, GSAC HONORS AFTER STELLAR SEASON

Middlesex College Men's Vollyeball standout Justin Zapata was a consistent force for the Colts all season long and now he has been recognized for his accomplishments.

The freshman outside hitter from North Brunswick, NJ was named 2nd Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-Garden State Athletic Conference in votes by the region and conference Head Coaches.

Zapata proved to be the most dangerous hitter on the Colts this season, leading the team in kills most games. On the season, he registered 164 kills, 19 aces and 191 digs.

His average of 2.88 kills per set placed him ninth in the country among NJCAA Division III schools. He was also 8th in the country with 3.35 digs per set.

Zapata had a season-high 20 kills in a five-set, season-ending match against Brookdale CC. He also had 18 kills against the Jersey Blues earlier in the season. Zapata is just the second Colt to reach the 20 kill mark in a match, joining Tyler Ryan who had 20 kills in the 2023 NJCAA Region 19 Finals against Ocean CC.

Zapata's top games for digs came against Atlantic Cape and Borough of Manhattan CC, when he had 20 digs in each game.

The Middlesex College Men's Volleyball team had their second consecutive winning regular season in 2024, finishing 10-8 overall.
