#9 MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SOFTBALL RUNS WIN STREAK TO 12 WITH 9-6 WIN OVER #4 RCSJ-GLOUCESTER

Middlesex College softball banged out 12 hits and Madison Rackett pitched a complete game as the Colts, ranked #9 in the latest NJCAA D3 National Poll, bounced #4 RCSJ-Gloucester 9-6 for their 12th straight win.

This was the second win for the Colts against a team ranked among the top five in the nation this year. RCSJ-Gloucester was the highest-ranked team in Region 19 when the Colts knocked them off to extend their winning streak to 12 games.

Middlesex started hitting right off the bus, scoring one run in the top of the first and then two runs in each of the next three innings to build a 7-0 lead through four innings. The Roadrunners rallied late scoring three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but Middlesex added two insurance runs in their half of the sixth.

Rackett pitched a scoreless seventh to nail down the victory for Middlesex.

Four Colts had two hits each, led by Samirrah Ortiz (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ) who went 2-4 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs.

Carla Seyfarth (Sophomore/Monmouth Junction, NJ) went 2-4 with a double, a run and an RBI and Leah Kripaitis (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ) went 2-3 with two walks and a run.

Rackett went 2-5 with a double and two runs.

Middlesex dropped Game 2 to the Roadrunners, but still stands atop the Region 19 regular season standings with a 14-2 overall record, 8-2 in Region 19 play.

The Colts are scheduled to take on another nationally ranked foe in their next matchup when they return to the diamond on Tuesday. They will host #8 Northampton in a doubleheader with first pitch at 3:30PM.
