Middlesex College broke open a close game late then used that momentum in Game 2 as the Colts swept Bucks CC to move to 14-4 on the season.
Middlesex won Game 1, 24-12 and took Game 2 by a score of 11-2.
Both teams had their offense in high gear in Game 1, but it was the Colts who eventually pulled away with a huge sixth inning. Middlesex opened the inning with a 15-12 lead then rallied for nine runs to seal the win.
The reigning GSAC Player of the Week, Kaylin Nepton (Sophomore/Middlesex, NJ) had five hits, a double and four RBIs.
Madison Szatkowski (Sophomore/Sayreville, NJ) and Simirrah Ortiz (Freshman/Woodbridge, NJ) continued to be two of the top hitters in the country. They each had four hits with Szatkowski adding four RBIs and a double. Ortiz had two doubles and two RBIs.
Sarah Ohnmeiss (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) homered, doubled and had four RBIs.
The offensive outburst came in support of Alice Melvin, who pitched four innings and picked up the win.
The Colts kept the offensive momentum going from the start of Game 2, scoring six runs in the top of the first.
Ohnmeiss again played a big role in the scoring, registering three hits and three RBIs. Nepton doubled and drove in two and Szatkowski had two hits and an RBI.
Summer Ramirez (Sophomore/South Brunswick, NJ) went the distance in the circle to pick up the win. She allowed just four hits without surrendering an earned run.
Middlesex is back in action Saturday when they travel to RCSJ-Cumberland for a doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 12:00PM.
